Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
If a visitor enters a name, case number, or similar value into a search tool, the query is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider handles the search and returns its result. Cobb County Court Docket does not keep a separate log of those terms on its own end.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other message sent to the resource is retained so a reply can be made. It is kept within the operating team and is not shared outside that team unless a legal duty requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
A page request can produce ordinary technical information about a visit, such as:
- The date and time of a page view
- The pages visited and the time spent on them
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- The browser and its version
- The device type and operating system
- The IP address assigned to the device
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files that may be placed on a device to help measure how visitors use the resource, including which pages receive traffic or where visits end. Analytics services can aggregate those signals. Browser settings can block cookies, although a blocked cookie may change how some features behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing technical faults and service problems
- Understanding which pages visitors find useful
- Keeping pages available and responsive
- Passing a submitted search to the relevant partner service
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Cobb County Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of Cobb County court dockets or personal case records. It provides general directions to the clerk and court that hold a record. The Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §50-18-70 et seq., supplies a public-records framework for government custodians, while O.C.G.A. §50-18-71 addresses directing a request to the custodian and identifying an exemption when access is withheld. Those statutes do not make this private resource the custodian of a court file.
Court access is court-specific. Superior Court public access and restriction procedures include Uniform Superior Court Rule 21, while Rule 21.6 addresses protected identifiers and redaction. State Court, Magistrate, Probate, Juvenile, and municipal records use their own clerks and access routes. Nothing collected from visitors is assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search boxes supplied by an outside company are governed by that company's privacy policy when a value is submitted. The partner decides how long it keeps the query, whether it shares data, and how it presents results. Review that policy before entering a name or case number; Cobb County Court Docket does not control the partner's retention or disclosure practices.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Georgia Courts E-Access directory, the Cobb County Courts directory, a clerk portal, a city municipal court, or an outside search service. Once a visitor leaves this resource, the destination's privacy policy governs the visit. Read that policy before submitting personal information.
The Cobb County Open Records Center is a government request channel, not a substitute for the court-specific clerk that holds a docket or case file. Advertising partners may also measure activity across sites on their own systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold by this resource. Depending on how a visitor uses the pages, information may be handled by:
- Analytics services measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a submitted query
- Ad networks placing advertising
- Law enforcement or another government body when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard security practices are used for the information handled by the resource. No internet-connected service can promise perfect security. The goal is to reduce risk, not to guarantee that a breach or other security event can never occur.
Users Under 18
The resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor's information has been sent to the operating team, a request to remove it can be made through the contact route.
Your Data Rights
The Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §50-18-70 et seq., and O.C.G.A. §50-18-71 concern public records held by government custodians, not visitor information held by a private reference resource. An official Cobb County court record must be requested from the court-specific custodian. Superior Court access also remains subject to Rule 21 and Rule 21.6, and Probate, Juvenile, State, Magistrate, and municipal records may have different limits. For information held by this resource, a visitor may:
- Ask what personal information is held about that visitor
- Request correction of an inaccurate detail
- Ask for deletion where the information is not required to be kept
- Opt out of certain forms of data processing where available
